Citizens are invited to take part in a Symposium on Sustainability from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the Winnipeg Art Gallery. The Symposium will be hosted by Mayor Sam Katz and will kick off a year-long planning and public consultation process to develop a new official plan for the City of Winnipeg.
Also in attendance will be representatives of community organizations, and a panel of invited speakers, to share their views of what a sustainable Winnipeg should look like. After the sharing of views, round table groups will be formed to shape larger principles and priorities. Members of the panel will offer input and lead further discussion, and based on those discussions, will help prepare Guiding Principles and Strategies for use in developing Winnipeg’s new official plan.
Registration for the Symposium will commence on Monday, April 6 at 9 a.m., through the City’s website at www.winnipeg.ca , or by phone at 986-7367.
