The Herb Society of Manitoba is hosting the 12th annual HerbFest on Sunday, July 5 at Assiniboine Park, with a theme of ‘Good Bug, Bad Bug’ that is sure to be a hit with gardeners of every age.
“This is such a fantastic way to learn about herbs and eco-friendly gardening,” said Acting HerbFest Chair Pat Routledge. “There are so many things you can do with herbs including medicinal and culinary options. No matter if you are an expert gardener or backyard hobbyist, there will be something here for everyone.”
HerbFest runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is a free, family friendly event in front of the conservatory. There will also be a wide range of vendors, a bake table, rainbow auction, guest speakers, tours of the conservatory’s gardens, and many activities for children.
“The children’s programming is about educating children on different kinds of insects. They can also take part in scavenger hunts and a ladybug release,” says Routledge. “It promises to be a fun-filled and informative afternoon for the whole family.”
