You’ve Really Got to Love the CBC …

A waiter at a restaurant in Vancouver actually got this ink done to his forearm.

CBC Tattoo

As the CBC blog states, “Steve Pratt, the head of CBC Radio 3, was out for dinner last night at a restaurant in Vancouver. He was wearing one of those retro CBC logo t-shirts, and as Pratt says “my waiter casually approached me, rolled up his sleeve, and showed me this.””

I listen and watch CBC but this is a tad disturbing.

I mean really. A news logo?

Sorry Chris… while I read your blog daily, I’m just not getting ChrisD.ca tattooed on my shoulder.

    Hee hee.

Actually, I think that’s a pretty cool tattoo. I can understand why the waiter got it; the CBC says a lot about being a Canadian.

I have the Rolling Stones’ tongue-and-lips logo tattooed on my shoulder, and it means much more than just, “I like this band” which, of course, I do.

To me, the Stones logo represents a state of mind, an attitude, an outlook on life, and even my love of rock ‘n’ roll and pop culture, in general. That’s why I got it.

What??? I can never understand how people think that the CBC defines Canadian identity. It’s baffling.

Don’t get me wrong, CBC does some great work, but our identity is seperate from a crown corporation. The idea that our national media is our identity is a laughable concept. If the CBC is disbanded, we’ll still be Canadian and still have a Canadian culture.

Aw come on, Jeanie. I’ll give you 10 bucks!

  • CreativeNige

True enough, Matt! I guess it all depends on what the CBC means to each of us, as individuals. I think a lot of it has to do with the shared experiences and the shared memories it provides, but then again I suppose all channels of media are capable of that as well.

Better than some Chinese letters or barbed wire.

    I like it.

Ick. In terms of quality – this tattoo is awful! You can actually see where the tattoo healed poorly and the ink didn’t take. Sick. I sure hope this guy didn’t get it because he’s a hockey fan – he’s going to have to cross it out for a TSN logo.

Ha ha. Add 6 zeros to that number and you’re on! ;-)
