The 4th annual Clothe the City winter clothing drive is gearing up to put new and gently used winter outerwear on Winnipeggers who need it this season. Starting with the goal of only collecting 80 coats, founder Ashley Morden was overwhelmed with the generosity of those in the city and collected over 400 in the program’s first year in 2006.
Clothe the City will take place at the Lighthouse Mission at 669 Main St. on December 19 and will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Clothe the City is currently accepting donations for adults and kids winter wear. Coats, snow pants, mittens, toques, scarves, boots, new socks and new underwear are all being accepted.
E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to make arrangements to have your donations picked up or call 771-6906. Organizers ask that all items be washed before donating. Deadline for donations is December 18.
