Cabin Fire Claims a Life Near Nelson House

One person is dead after a fatal fire 2 km north of Nelson House, Manitoba Friday night.

RCMP say a fire at a hunter’s cabin was reported at about 7:30 p.m. and was engulfed when crews arrived. The structure was completely destroyed by the fire, and a deceased body was discovered inside the residence.

An autopsy has been ordered, but no date has been set. Police are in the process trying to identify the remains through dental records.

RCMP and the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
