‘The Fonz’ Gets Key to the City

Actor Henry Winkler (The Fonz) from “Happy Days” fame received the Key to the City from Mayor Sam Katz on Sunday.

Winkler received the honour for being a strong advocate for education and literacy. “Having grown up with undiagnosed dyslexia, he has since become a celebrated children’s author and a source of inspiration for children facing a learning disability,” the Mayor’s Office said.

The 64-year-old joins past recipients Milt Stegall, Sir Bob Geldof, and Jon Montgomery in receiving the key.

Winkler was in town for the 36th annual World of Wheels auto show at the Winnipeg Convention Centre.

I don’t get it? He wrote children books… lots of people do that. How does he get the key?

Fonzie sure likes those cable knit sweaters, I’ve noticed. He was wearing the same one in a different colour at the car show on Friday evening. Who needs a leather jacket?! Ayyyy.

Could this visit have anything to do with our illustrious mayor being an self-serving opportunist and Mr. Winkler being a celebrated Jewish person? Thanks for visiting the little people, Katz.

Why couldn’t they get him a decent microphone? The one he is using looks like one from Jefferson High on Happy Days!

The “visit” being that from our mayer, not Henry Winkler’s scheduled World of Wheels appearance.
