Fallen Winnipeg Fire Fighters Honoured at Memorial

By Brian Schultz

Several members of the United Fire Fighters of Winnipeg will be attending a special memorial in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Saturday in honour of their fallen colleagues.

The annual I.A.F.F Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial on September 11 honours men and women who have given their lives in the line of duty this year.

Three Winnipeg fire fighters will be honoured at the memorial, including Jim McDonald, Abe Neufeld and Alfred Papson. These three brave fire fighters died of occupational disease and gave the ultimate sacrifice for the citizens of Winnipeg.

This year’s memorial will honour 125 fire fighters from across North America.
