Equestrians galloped towards the coveted title of best up-and-comer over the weekend — just one of many competitions at the Manitoba Equestrian Championship (East vs. West).

The Manitoba Horse Council (MHC) hosted the second annual event at Birds Hill Provincial Park, where riders of all ages from across Manitoba went head-to-head in an East vs. West bout.

Competition was broken down into seven equestrian disciplines of Competitive Trail, Combined Driving, Cutting, Dressage, Endurance, Eventing, and Show Jumping.

Admission to the championship was free, but a fundraising dinner on Saturday conjured up support for CancerCare Manitoba.
