A new reality TV series on APTN will follow four Aboriginal people from Winnipeg on their journey to a healthier and more fit lifestyle.

“Fit First” will chronicle the trials and triumphs of the participants in six half-hour episodes airing on the network this fall.

Over the course of six months, a trainer works with all four to improve their fitness, diet and how to make better food choices for themselves and their families.

About the participants:

Irene Mesich, 48, mother of five
Leann Frederickson, 43, two adult children, one grandchild
Kim Ziervogel, 40, three teenage children
Willis Petti, 34, three kids aged 15, nine and seven

All four will be trained by Kent Brown, one of the head coaches for United Boxing Club.

Episode one is a struggle, as they work through their first fitness assessment and show the trainer just how out of shape they really are. Their initial weigh-in helps each one set a weight loss goal, and face how far they have to go.

The series will premiere on APTN Wednesday, October 13 at 12:30 p.m.
