Ground was broken Thursday on a new splash park at the River East Arena — making for the city’s eighth such park.
Mayor Sam Katz and Rossmere MLA Erna Braun made the announcement for the park, which will be located at 1440 Rothesay Street.
The project won’t take too long to complete, with the park slated to cool down children and families by August 1.
The splash pad was funded evenly through $400,000 of the Building Communities Initiative (BCI) between the city and province. The city also put up an additional $150,000.
As of today, all outdoor pools and splash pads in the city are open for the season until September 5. Wading pools will open Friday.
