Patrons of the McPhillips Station Casino will have somewhere to rest in between hitting the slots, after a new hotel arrises next door.
Canad Inns plans on building a 200-room hotel at the casino, to be built on land once occupied by the former Days Inn.
Manitoba Lotteries will own the land, but Canad Inns will develop it with the help of Number TEN Architectural Group.
The hotel will be constructed to the same standards as the Canad Inns Destination Centre in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The chain also operates a hotel at Winnipeg’s other large casino, Club Regent.
The Manitoba government will collect about $8.9 million in taxes through the construction phase and $2.9 million annually when operational.
