Students Travelling to NYC for Human Rights Conference

Four University of Winnipeg Collegiate students are joining this year’s United Nations Student Conference on Human Rights in New York City.

Benjamin Chafe, Zainab Doleeb, Karis Hutlet, and Claire Paetkau will be alongside 10 other Canadians from Quebec and Alberta, when they leave today on the five-day trip to mingle with other student delegates from around the world.

The students will tackle this year’s theme of Discrimination and Human Rights Defenders at UN headquarters, with four sub-themes, including Discrimination Against Persons with HIV/AIDS, Discrimination Against Women, Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities, and Racial Discrimination.

Acting collegiate dean Richard Martin will be accompanying the students on the trip.
