Police Warn of Thin Ice as Mild Weather Lingers

Winnipeg police are reminding the public to stay off of rivers and retention ponds due to mild temperatures.

Ice is thin or not formed at all in some spots, creating dangerous conditions for anyone nearby.

Parents and guardians are asked to remind their children of the dangers involving cold water and thin ice.

Winnipeg hit a high of 5.1°C Monday (The Forks) — a new record for December 26.
