A new commemorative 25-cent “Wood Bison” circulation coin will be available to the public on Friday during a coin exchange at the Manitoba Legislature.
From 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., the Royal Canadian Mint will hold the first coin exchange for the piece of currency. The coin, first unveiled in October 2011 as one of five new circulation coins celebrating Canada’s legendary nature, will begin circulating across Canada on January 16.
Visitors can also receive a free illustrated collector card while quantities last.
The coin exchange will be held on the grand staircase.
