The much-anticipated season opening of the Bridge Drive-In on Saturday was a bit of a let down when normal temperatures for this time of year decided to return.

Despite the near freezing single digits, a few hardy Winnipeg residents made it out to enjoy a treat at the Jubilee Avenue ice cream vendor. Owner Al Rutherford was pleased with the turnout, and predicts 2012 to be a great year. Rutherford said many of his faithful customers wait for months for the “Goog Special” and show up in any kind of weather.

Ice cream in the rain? That may be the case today as Environment Canada calls for a slight chance of showers and a daytime high of 8°C. Light showers are in the forecast again for Tuesday, but a high of 13°C may help to soften the blow.
