QX 104, FAB 94.3 to Be Sold Under Bell-Astral Deal

Bell Media plans to sell off Winnipeg radio stations QX 104 and FAB 94.3 after its takeover deal with Astral Media is complete.

Appearing at a CRTC hearing in Montreal on Monday, Bell advised a committee that it plans to release the two local stations, along with a handful of others across the country. The move would lighten Bell’s radio portfolio in the $3.4 billion Astral deal.

QX 104 is currently owned by Astral, while Bell owns FAB 94.3. Fellow Bell stations TSN Radio 1290 and 99.9 BOB FM will remain, as will Astral station 103.1 Virgin Radio.

The 10 stations Bell plans to sell are the lowest-rated properties in their market.

It wasn’t known if the stations on the selling block would be sold individually or in a bulk transaction.

Please don’t take my “FAB 94.3 away from Me”!! Why do they have to keep changing radio stations. I’m sure that there is enough people in Winnipeg and on the internet to keep Fab 94.3 afloat. Last time they turned CFRW into an all sports radio show (TSN) and I went out and bought a bunch of CDS to console myself since there was no radio station to listen to. I am a firm supporter of all the announcers on FAB 94.3 and would really be so saddened if you take this type of music away again. Just leave well enough alone!!! ENOUGH SAID :)
