A 44-year-old member of the Winnipeg Police Service has been charged after an alleged domestic dispute.
The officer’s wife called RCMP about a disturbance at their residence on January 7. Officers learned the woman had allegedly been assaulted the night before as well.
The off-duty officer was taken into custody and released on a promise to appear. He was formally charged with assault today and will appear in court next month.
The victim did not require any medical treatment.
RCMP aren’t releasing the name of the officer or where the assault occurred to protect the victim’s identity.
