Two Men Charged After Traffic Stop Turns Up Pot

RCMP Crest LogoA traffic stop near Nelson House First Nation led police to seize a quantity of marijuana on August 21.

RCMP pulled over a vehicle at the junction of Highway 620 and 391 at around 7:30 p.m. and noticed a strong odour of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Police seized two bags of marijuana totalling 58 grams.

Five people in the SUV were arrested, with three later being released. Gillies Solomon Thomas, 27, of Leaf Rapids and Garrick Jeorge Moody, 20, of Nelson House face drug-related charges for the purpose of trafficking. Both men remained in custody prior to their court appearance on Thursday.
