MTS wireless customers can now roam on LTE across Canada, including internationally, such as in most major U.S. cities.
LTE (long term evolution) provides extremely fast Internet access for mobile users, supporting speeds of up to 10 times faster than MTS’ 4G HSPA+ wireless network.
“MTS customers can connect to LTE in over 80 locations in Canada, and we are one of only two Canadian carriers to announce the launch of international LTE roaming,” said MTS president Kelvin Shepherd.
MTS launched its 4G LTE wireless network in Winnipeg and Brandon in 2012, later extending it to other Manitoba communities. Over the next five years, the company hopes to extend LTE to cover 90% of the province.
