Woman Assaulted, Car Stolen Downtown

Winnipeg Police CrestA 23-year-old woman is recovering after she was assaulted in her car before it was stolen on Saturday.

Winnipeg police said the woman was approached by another woman asking for a cigarette at about 3:15 a.m. When she went to get a cigarette from her car, parked on Hargrave Street, an unknown man confronted her while she was in the driver’s seat. He punched her several times before she handed over the keys.

The man then hit her again before she managed to crawl out of her 2004 Toyota Corolla. The man sped off in the car, along with a sum of cash.

At about 8 p.m., the male suspect was found at a house and arrested.

Robert Bousquet, 26, has been charged with robbery. He was detained. Police continue to investigate.
