Construction on a new condominium project in Winnipeg’s downtown is moving closer to seeing shovels in the ground.
The upscale Glasshouse Skyloft Project will be built between Donald and Hargrave streets, with units on the higher floors providing a view above Portage Avenue.
“Our sales have proven strong enough to make the next major project investment — developing the detailed plans required for the building permit process and the start of construction,” said David Wex of Urban Capital. “At the same time, our hosts at cityplace are undertaking an investment to improve and upgrade the centre that will be part of the neighbourhood for Glasshouse residents.”
The pop-up display model is being moved from cityplace to Winnipeg Square, where perspective tenants can set foot inside a 674-square-foot unit before making a purchasing decision.
“We are really looking forward to showing off the product to a new group of people who are already working downtown.”
The developer says sales of Glasshouse Skylofts have been consistently strong since its launch last May. Several of the unit styles, including the popular A1 and A2, C4 and C5 units, are almost sold out and there has been demand to increase the size of some suites. To ensure tenants are satisfied, a number of units have been combined into double-sized suites.
The $130 million Centrepoint project is slated for completion in 2016.
