RRC Students Prepare Turkey Feast at Siloam Mission

Siloam MissionStudents from Red River College’s School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts will serve up a pre-Christmas feast to 600 guests at Siloam Mission today.

Manitoba Turkey Producers and Granny’s Poultry Cooperative Ltd. donated the food to be prepared by the 20 students, who will then serve it alongside local dignitaries this afternoon.

Chef Scott Ball and Chef Gordon Bailey will guide students to prepare approximately 18 turkeys which equates to 500 lbs, traditional vegetable side dishes, sauces, gravy, and dessert.

“The holiday season can be particularly hard on those in our community experiencing homelessness and poverty. They do not have the resources to enjoy a Christmas feast,” said Floyd Perras, executive director of Siloam Mission. “We are grateful to have these students share their skills and passion.

The first lunch meal service will begin at 12:30 p.m.
