Children Injured in School Bus Crash on Manitoba First Nation

RCMP Crest LogoFive children suffered minor injuries on Wednesday when the school bus they were riding in collided with a semi-trailer truck.

The crash happened at around 8:20 a.m. on Berens River First Nation. Manitoba RCMP say the bus was travelling eastbound just south of the community when it hit a stopped semi on the side of the road.

The children, aged nine to 14-years-old, were taken to the local nursing station and released to their families. The bus driver was not injured.

Police say the cause of the crash appears to be poor visibility from the direct sunlight from the sunrise.
