With only three days to go, this year’s CEO Sleepout has already raised $100,000.

The fifth annual event, led by the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ, will see 135 participating CEOs, community leaders, and members of the media camp out at the corner of Portage and Main on Thursday night.

“Lots of good can come from just one night,” said Stefano Grande, executive director of the Downtown BIZ.

“Homelessness will continue to exist even after the CEO Sleepout. This unfortunate reality is an important reality check for many of our participants.”

Funds raised will go initiatives in an effort to one day end homelessness in the city.

More than $500,000 has been raised since the first CEO Sleepout in 2011, creating 137 jobs, providing shelter, quality of life supports and other improvements to the community.

The sleepout will run from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. on September 24 at 201 Portage Avenue.

Participants can be supported by a donation at theceosleepout.ca.
