What’s Open and Closed on Remembrance Day

Here’s what open, closed or operating on reduced hours in Winnipeg on Remembrance Day, November 11.

Shopping Centres
Kildonan Place — Open 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
St. Vital Centre — Open 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Polo Park — Open 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Liquor Marts
All Manitoba Liquor Marts will be open from 1 p.m. until regular closing hours on Remembrance Day, Wednesday November 11, with the exception of cityplace which will be closed all day, and Brandon West End Express which will close one hour early at 9 p.m.

Civic Offices
Closed on Wednesday, November 11

Canadian Museum for Human Rights
Open 1-9 p.m. with special programming for adults and kids. The Tower of Hope atop the museum will glow “poppy red” from dusk tonight (November 10) until noon on Wednesday.

Assiniboine Park Zoo
Open 1-4 p.m.

Recycling/Garbage Collection
For all customers with city collection service (single-family homes, multi-family residential buildings, businesses), there is no recycling, garbage or yard waste collection on Remembrance Day, Wednesday, November 11, 2015.

Garbage collection days after Wednesday get pushed back one day to the following:
Wednesday, November 11 — No collection, moves to Thursday, November 12
Thursday, November 12 — Moves to Friday, November 13
Friday, November 13 — Moves to Saturday, November 14

Brady Road Resource Management Facility (Brady Road Landfill):
Wednesday, November 11 — Closed

Winnipeg Transit
On Wednesday, November 11, Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule.

Transit operators will pull over and stop their buses at 11 a.m. to recognize one minute of silence.

Libraries
All Winnipeg Public Library branches will be closed on Wednesday, November 11.

Leisure Centres
All Leisure Centres are closed on Wednesday, November 11.

Swimming Pools
All City of Winnipeg indoor swimming pools will be closed on Wednesday, November 11, with the exception of the Pan Am Pool and the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex.
The Pan Am Pool will be open 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex will be open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Animal Services Agency
The Animal Services Agency will be closed on Wednesday, November 11.

Cemeteries
Cemetery grounds at Brookside, St. Vital and Transcona Cemeteries will be open for visitation from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Remembrance Day.
Cemetery offices will be closed on Remembrance Day, Wednesday, November 11.

Winnipeg Parking Authority
The Winnipeg Parking Authority will be closed on Wednesday, November 11.
