Man Charged After Crashing Stolen Toyota

Winnipeg Police CrestAn 18-year-old man is facing a list of charges after allegedly driving a stolen vehicle erratically and evading police early Monday.

Officers spotted the stolen Toyota Camry at around 2 a.m. in the area of Bannerman Avenue and Main Street.

Police followed the vehicle until it began driving at high speeds and having no regard for public safety.

The driver lost control and crashed in the area of Kimberley Avenue and Gateway Road. Three males were taken into custody, including the driver, while a 15-year-old boy fled on foot.

The canine unit eventually tracked him down hiding in the 700 block of Blantyre Avenue.

The driver was charged and released on a promise to appear, while the passengers were not charged.
