The Winnipeg Goldeyes have signed right-handed pitcher Eric Sim and catcher Justin Marra for the 2016 season.
Sim was 1-1 with one save and a 2.53 ERA in 26 relief appearances last season for the Short Season-A Northwest League’s Salem-Keizer Volcanoes.
“Eric Sim comes to us from the Giants’ organization,” said Goldeyes’ manager Rick Forney. “I viewed a video of one of Eric’s recent bullpen sessions, and I was blown away by the arm speed and velocity he produces. I feel he will fit nicely in our bullpen.”
Marra split time last season in the Chicago Cubs’ organization and with the Can-Am League’s Quebec Capitales. The Toronto native totaled seven doubles, six home runs, 21 RBI, and 23 walks in 64 games between the South Bend Cubs (Low-A Midwest League), Eugene Emeralds (Short Season-A Northwest League), and the Capitales.
The Goldeyes now have 23 players under contract for the 2016 season.
