I feel horrible for the Mclean family for losing such a wonderful man as Tim. The tragedy is horrible, and while I appreciate them for starting up Tim's Law I still do not feel safe on the streets.

Tim's family is not helping me feel safe because Li was 40 years old when this crime happened. He was not previous locked up and let loose and committed a crime. Li was living in a world every day like the rest of us. Then one day out of the blue he murdered someone.

How on earth do I know you will not be the next mentally ill person to take away my life? So while I appreciate what the family is doing for Tim's Life, it does not ease my fears to walk or travel in this world. Mental illness needs to be caught earlier on before it gets to this point...keeping people locked up is only a temporary solution. It will not solve the bigger picture. How did someone like Li not get help before it got to this point? Will another "Li" that is not locked up do this again? Can I walk downtown with homeless people sleeping on the streets safely without getting my life taken away?

Where is the help there? Where is a "Tim's law" to help prevent a random stranger from doing this again? Again Li had no criminal history in the past, he was not in a hospital for a huge crime and released. So this family will visit him every single day to make sure Li is still locked up for "my" safety to make sure it does not happen again. But it will happen again with another person wandering free like Li was before.

We need to focus on mental illness prevention instead.

I am very overwhelmed by what has happened. I can not possibly understand what would trigger a person to act like that, like a "monster" or demon. I feel very badly for Tim, and his family, and I wonder why such tragedies like this happen , or why God would allow it to happen. These questions may never get answered, but one thing is for certain, and that is, Li will get full punishment, if not by law, then by his maker. Was it a crime of desperation? Perhaps Li was undiagnosed, and was a time bomb waiting to happen. Well whatever does become of this horrific tragic case, I hope that Justice is served. And God bless you Tim, and God will make sure that Li, gets what he deserves. R.I.P. and my sincere condolences to your family Tim.

I personally feel for the family of TIM McLean, and for the people who had to witness such an event and think this is a tragedy that should not have happened, but sadly time cannot be turned back or else this world would be perfect. However, i believe as a society we need to get two things out of this terrible incident: one - to make rules and regulations such that a crime like this or others cannot be inflicted on innocent people like Tim and two - is to understand what led Vince Weigaung Li to commit such a crime, rather than hastily convict him to the hangman's noose. He does deserve punishment, but what is more important and probably what tim would want is for the world to know why he died the way he died rather than us just commit a murder without full knowledge ourselves.

I am sick over this. How can this poor family survive such a horrific tragedy. To make matters worse, he has only been charged with second degree murder. Typical of Canada. R.I.P Tim
