Two Winnipeg Websites Named Among Canada’s Best

Two Winnipeg-based websites have received the distinction of being named among Canada’s best.
Web50.ca judges the best 50 designed websites for a Canadian company, made by a Canadian company. Some criteria they look for is whether the site is organized and easy to navigate, has a good balance of colours, delivers content in a quick and effective manner and features a good selection of photos and unique written content.
The two newest websites to join the group include the University of Winnipeg (uwinnipeg.ca) and Freshii (freshii.com).
Congrats to both of those sites. Think of it as the equivalent to the Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies ranking.

Something bogus about that Web50 presentation. Looks more like a marketing gimmick than anything. Some of those sites look very cookie-cutter.
And they place a NetFirms tile on the main page, even though it’s NOT one of the 50, it’s the site sponsor.

So because Matthew Corrin, a *former* Winnnipegger in Toronto (via New York->Toronto->Chicago->back to TO) owns Freshii, it’s automatically a “Winnipeg-based” website? I’m confused.

I didn’t understand that myself, but they tell me it’s Winnipeg-based (somehow).

I’m sorry, but those sites aren’t that good. Poorly designed, poorly executed, and barely usable. I have to say the UofW’s site is a big improvement over it’s old one though. (Although it seems most links actually bring you back to the old design!)
Here are some great (Canadian) sites I’ve taken note of recently.
