Google Street View Goes Live in Winnipeg
You’ll read it here first! After months of waiting and wondering when Google would finally flick the switch to include Winnipeg on its Street View application, the moment is here.
Google made Winnipeg available late Tuesday, featuring 3D images of almost every corner of the city. Also added today were Victoria, Nanaimo, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Sudbury, London, Sherbrooke and St. John’s.
You can view the Street View images on Google Maps by entering an address and dragging the little orange icon/figure over your chosen destination.
Other parts of the province have yet to go live, but we would guess they should be appearing shortly.
Many hours will now be spent scouting out various locations. This is going to be fun!

UPDATE: Thanks to Corey Q. for pointing out the little glitch near the Niakwa Country Club (620 Niakwa Road) — the street in front of the club was shot in the summer, but a few hundred yards down near the foot bridge, it’s a winter wonderland.
We took a screencast to show you.

We can start up an “Ugliest House In Winnipeg” contest.
My vote:

One of my many interests is architecture, and I can tell you this is bad. Look at the scale, the front door is almost invisible compared to those giant wobbly pillars. The roof is a patchwork of angles, and the front garage wall isn’t true. This is not a Gino’s Home. Neither is this. Again, front door issues. You need be shorter than 4’2″ to get in.

Now we need to make our houses look good , not just for people who walk or drive by, but also surf to.

The need to send out the car at night. Scanned Manitoba Ave, seemed pretty quiet.

This is cool, here’s city infrastructure responding to the presence of the Google car.

There’s a number of streets in the north end where it shows back lanes instead of the streets proper. Kind of sh***y for those people.
