Residential Parking Ban in Effect Tonight

Winnipeg received quite the dumping of snow over the last several days, and now residential streets will get the same treatment the major routes received Saturday.
Beginning tonight, city crews will plow residential streets and back lanes, thus causing the overnight residential parking ban to be in effect. Parking on streets not designated as snow routes will be prohibited between midnight and 6 a.m. The residential ban will be in place until plowing is complete — usually 3-4 days.
Streets that are designated as snow routes will have the parking ban in place between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.
If you’re confused about where you can or cannot park, call 311 or visit the city’s website.

I was confused watching the CTV news last night. The graphics were wrong, and I couldn’t make sense of what she was saying, and it sounded like she was having a giggling fit through it.
I guess it’s better than doing a funny story and the co-anchor making a wise crack about it, then the next story is a baby who was run over and dies a horrible death. Need a buffer between those.
Time to dig out the car. Sigh.

If people park on the street I think the plows should just plow the cars out of the way and the owners pay for any damages. Harsh – Yes, Does this happen every year and people should know better – Yes.

Uh oh — I am out of town and a relative had left their car on the street in front of my home. I’m not returning until tomorrow evening to move it, either. Yikes.

I hope this is done before new years eve. I’m not sure of any New Year’s Eve parties which will be done by midnight. There’s going to be a lot of people parking on streets after midnight, you know, so they don’t drive home under any influence.
They should also exclude streets which have already been plowed.
