Teen Daughter of McCain’s VP Pick is Knocked Up

Bristol Palin, the 17-year-old daughter of Alaska Governor and Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, is pregnant and will keep the baby, a McCain aide told media on Monday.
Republican presidential candidate John McCain was aware of Bristol Palin’s pregnancy before he chose her mother for his running mate.
The 17-year-old, a senior in high school, is about five months along, in her second trimester, according to an aide.
Sarah and Todd Palin issued a statement saying they are “proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents.”
No word yet on whether Bristol will be seeking parenting advice from fellow teenage baby maker, Jamie Lynn Spears.

How can Sarah Palin possibly focus on being a successful running mate of John McCain’s when she’s working to take care of her 5 children, including a 4-month-old baby who has Down syndrome, and now will soon have to support and take care of her daughter’s baby? She should be focusing on driving a minivan to soccer games and making lunches.
As one reader put it on an American political blog, “Gun toting, bible thumping, failed beauty queen with a knocked up out of wedlock teenage daughter!!! Jesus Christ! Why don’t they just pull a double wide up to the White House and call it a day.”

I hear banjoes playing.
Although I have to say, if this happened to a male candidate, would commentators write about them staying at home to look after the kids?

Maybe not. They’d be calling for nannies and “hired help” to step in.
