Military Plane Makes Emergency Landing at YWG

A Canadian Forces aircraft made an emergency landing at Winnipeg’s James Richardson International Airport Friday afternoon.
A problem with the plane’s hydraulic system made it difficult to steer, but the landing gear was successfully deployed.
The plane — an Airbus referred to as “Polaris” (above) — came in shortly after 12 p.m.
Passengers included 56 military personnel on their way to Vancouver from Trenton, Ontario to help with security at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
There were no injuries.

The same way everyone does it… sit and listen to a police scanner.

Is it legal to have a scanner in the car? I don’t have any sort of data plan when I can listen to streaming audio whilst on the road, and it would probably be cheaper to have a physical scanner with me at all times, than a computer with Shoutcast and line-in and whatever back home.
I don’t mind driving around the city in my free time looking for the sh*t hitting the fan, but windows rolled down listening for sirens doesn’t always cut it.
Plus ‘stealing’ bandwidth from someone’s unsecured router to upload things doesn’t appeal to me all that much.
Maybe I’ll look into this Tweeting stuff, see if I can get breaking news stuff on my phone. God, I don’t want to be a Tweeter… I have a dislike for social networking sites as it is.
