The Winnipeg Free Press ran an article on Saturday about the Lesley Hughes ordeal, but failed to provide some very useful information.

Here’s a quote from the article written by Bruce Owen:

Hughes’ column has been on the Internet for years, but was only brought to light by a local blogger after Hughes and other Liberal candidates appeared with Dion Wednesday courting the Jewish vote at the Asper Jewish Community Campus.

Chris D dot ca is among the very few Winnipeg blogs out there and although the story didn’t break here — I’d gladly take credit for it if no one else is going step up. As a reader brought up in the comments section of the original post I linked above, the Free Press should disclose which blog the information was first reported on.

To an outsider watching this story on the TV news for the first time without some background information, you’d think that the CBC or CTV were the ones to stumble upon it themselves. There was absolutely no mention of any blogger, but only that ‘Google played a roll’.
