Meat Loaf Concert at MTS Centre Cancelled
The Meat Loaf concert slated for Tuesday night at MTS Centre has been cancelled.
In a statement Monday, the promoter said the singer was unable to perform due to recovering from the flu.
The show was scheduled as part of the “Hang Cool Tour,” which includes stops in Edmonton, Calgary, and other North American cities until early September.
Meat Loaf cancelled another set of shows on July 20 in Windsor, Ontario and July 22 in Detroit after receiving advice from his doctor not to perform.
Tickets will be refunded at their point of purchase.

Is someone compiling a list of concerts that have been axed last minute like this? It’s always “he’s sick” line…

Meat is now out of my diet. I will not be buying any more tickets for Meatloaf Concerts. He is a poor risk. Buying tickets for his concerts is like gambling. You never know when he will really be performing, and he cancels concerts at the last second. We flew to Calgary to see him, and we didn’t find out that he had cancelled the concert till we turned up at the venue.
And for anybody who says he’s really sick…sorry…this happens way too often with this performer.

I’d like to know if this has anything to do with ticket sales? They have been offering 2 for 1′s for the past month.

Illness has, very unfortunately, temporarily interrupted a GREAT tour; I feel so lucky to have caught Meat Loaf’s performances earlier this month. The shows were astoundingly good, actually better than I had expected, even though I was looking forward to them and anticipated having a good time! But a singer with an operatic voice can’t sing with a cold/flu, and he no doubt has to be careful now not to push it too far and possibly hurt himself. We’re all hoping he takes good care of himself and continues his tour only when he’s ready.
Btw, if you saw Meat Loaf during 2007 or 2008, he’s even better now, seriously! His new album is better than his last one, his shows in support of it are amazing, and he himself (until he fell ill) is in tip-top shape. I have no idea why ticket sales are not great; all I can say is, if you have a chance to see Meat Loaf on this tour, GO!!!!

I am extremely P.O.’d at Ticket Master! They didn’t send out a cancelation notice as their website promises will be done ASAP…and we were about to hop on a plane to get to Winnipeg…..now I am fighting to get a ticket refund on short notice.
Thanks Ticket Master!

I’ve heard the cancellation’s been because of slow ticket sales (and reduction in size of his venues on the tour too)…

Ticket Master is poorly ran and needs to be overtaken by another company… Ticketmaster has developed this monopolistic business and they are poor at their jobs. We drove to Detroit (13.5 hours) the night before the concert only to receive an email from Ticket Master at 1:38p on the day of the show to inform us it was postponed. However, when we googled the show and yahooed the show they made announcements many hours earlier about the show being postponed. Ticket Master should be obligated to reimburse travel and hotels if they do not take care of their business in a timely fashion. The company is a joke and continues to buy out other companies and charge outrageous service fees.

I agree with Bubba’s comments. I have been a long time Meat Loaf fan, but the past few years his live performance record has been spotty – either shows cancelled or he shows up and the show should have been cancelled. Right now there are tix going for $10 for Gibson theatre (Universal) in California. A few years ago I saw him at that venue and he was forgetting lyrics, etc. I would never make plans to see Meat Loaf that required traveling a great distance due to last minute cancellations. I love Meat Loaf, but sometimes an artist needs to know when to retire. The man is very talented and should pursue more acting roles. However, live concert performances are out for me. Meat has been blaming the record company for poor support in the USA, etc., but we have all read about the concert cancellations the past few years and that documentary about him did him no favors. It shows that he endlessly stresses about everything on tour from lighting, to critics, etc., when he should let everyone do their jobs they were hired for and he just worry about showing up and being able to sing.
