Assiniboine Park Honcho Makes Pitch for Rejuvenation

The business community was pitched plans to revitalize Assiniboine Park at a Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce breakfast meeting last week. Margaret Redwood, CEO of the Assiniboine Park Conservancy, told business leaders the state of the park is deteriorating.
Upgrades to the 106-year-old destination are expected to cost $180 million over the next 10 years.

Trees and Lights Definite Sign Christmas is Coming

Hundreds turned out over the weekend to take in the 21st annual Festival of Trees and Lights at the Assiniboine Park Conservatory.
Decorations donned the many Christmas trees up for bids, as Winnipeggers took in the live entertainment.

21st Festival of Trees and Lights

The 21st annual Festival of Trees and Lights takes place this weekend at the Assiniboine Park Conservatory.
This year’s event runs from November 20 to December 7, with an opening night gala on Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets are $45 per person, or $25 for members.

Grandparents Honoured Sunday at the Park

This Sunday, Assiniboine Park will salute grandparents in a day filled with all sorts of activities for the entire family.

Humane Society’s Paws in Motion 2009 (PHOTOS)

Paws in Motion was another huge success this year as hundreds of dogs and their owners made their way through Assiniboine Park on Sunday. The annual event raised $225,000 for the Winnipeg Humane Society. A few cats and other critters also took in some of the action during the Furry Scurry event.

This beautiful collie is just one of hundreds of dogs who came out this morning for Paws in Motion at Assiniboine Park. The Winnipeg Humane Society fundraiser had perfect weather, as unlike last Sunday, the temperatures were a bit more bearable.

It’s No Walk in the Park to Have ALS

Thousands Come Out for Teddy Bears’ Picnic

Sunday turned out to be a better day than expected. The dark clouds that were hovering over Winnipeg throughout the morning moved out and made way for bright sunny skies, as the 23 annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic rolled on.
