Georgian Luger Dies After Crash on Whistler Track

Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili died Friday after he crashed during a training run at the Whistler Sliding Centre in preparation for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

A 47-year-old woman who was allegedly assaulted by her husband on January 20 has since died.

Two Dead in Fatal Crash on Bishop Grandin Blvd.

Two men died Friday night after the vehicle they were travelling in lost control and hit a pole on Bishop Grandin Boulevard, police said.

Police Investigate Death of 14-Year-Old Girl

RCMP are investigating the death of a 14-year-old girl in Oxford House, which has since been ruled a homicide.
Police reported the death Monday, and flew in both the RCMP Thompson Major Crime Unit and RCMP Winnipeg Serious Crime Unit to investigate.

Fire Claims Life on Talbot Avenue

One man was killed in a Monday morning blaze that engulfed an Elmwood home at 598 Talbot Avenue. The fire broke out around 6:45 a.m. and was contained roughly an hour later.

Police Remaining Mum on Identity of Weekend Crash Victims

Winnipeg police are remaining tight-lipped on the identities of the two male victims killed in a head-on crash early Saturday morning.
The crash occurred at around 12:30 a.m. on Logan Avenue and McPhillips Street.
Police said Sunday they will not be releasing the names of the men, aged 30 and 57.

Foul Play Ruled Out in Death at Birds Hill Park

RCMP said today that the body found on Friday in a gravel pit at Birds Hill Provincial Park is of a 47-year-old man from Winnipeg. An autopsy was performed today at St. Boniface Hospital and foul play is not suspected.
The name of the victim is not being released.
