CURVE 94.3 Wins Award for ‘16 Second’ Promos

Winnipeg radio station CURVE 94.3 has won a gold RMB Crystal Award for having the best Station Promotion Campaign.
The Radio Marketing Bureau handed out the awards Thursday and recognized the best in Canadian radio advertising between fall 2008 through 2009.

CJOB Moving to New Polo Park Studios

Andrea Collins Returning to Winnipeg Airwaves

Former CURVE 94.3 radio personality Andrea Collins is on her way back to Winnipeg, she tells ChrisD.ca.
Andrea left in August for 107.3 Kool FM in Victoria, but will soon be co-hosting mornings on CURVE with Jay Richardson on a temporary basis, before moving back to her familiar position doing middays.

Hank FM Fires Entire Morning Show

More staff were let go Wednesday morning from 100.7 Hank FM. This time, the entire morning show was abolished due to budget cuts, we’re told.
Trevor “Moose” Stoyko and Julie Buckingham are the two most recent hosts to be out of work from the NewCap Radio-owned station.
Stoyko was originally brought on board in December 2008.

Steve Thompson’s New Kelowna Radio Gig

Fear not, Steve Thompson fans — the former Winnipeg radio personality landed another job.
Thompson quit 99.9 BOB FM last month and has turned up at Q103.1 FM in Kelowna (formerly B-103).

CJOB Turfs Laurie Langcastor

CJOB has parted ways with its afternoon drive host Laurie Langcastor (left).
We’re told the talk radio station let her go after Monday’s show and has made Karen Black her permanent replacement.

Obby Khan: The Drugs Aren’t Mine

Winnipeg Blue Bomber Obby Khan was the victim of a good old fashioned prank call Thursday, as Power 97 tried to convince him his car had been found totalled. Among other things, the radio pranksters told Obby a quantity of marijuana was found in the vehicle.

Steve Thompson Quits BOB FM

We’ve learned Steve Thompson has quit his position as midday personality at Winnipeg’s 99.9 BOB FM effective today.
Thompson used to be part of the morning show over there alongside Harry Callaghan and Troy Scott, before being let go and then hired back for the midday role.
