On top of a packed schedule, the Manitoba Moose are hoping to entice fans with a stacked lineup full of theme nights and giveaways for the 2017-18 season.

The American Hockey League team announced new events planned for this year on Thursday, which include a Halloween Game (Oct. 28) with free pillowcases (to help the kids with trick-or-treating three days later). The annual University of Winnipeg Wesmen Classic has expanded to a more gender- and sport-inclusive format.

The expanded tournament, which begins this December, will now include women’s basketball, as well as men’s and women’s volleyball, which join the existing men’s basketball tournament.

Canada Summer Games Draw to a Close as Manitoba Clinches 10th Gold

Winnipeg rolled up its welcome mat as more than 2,000 Canada Summer Games athletes, coaches and their families departed on Sunday.

The two-week competition came in two waves, with the first group of athletes arriving in late July. The closing ceremonies Sunday afternoon at Investors Group Field officially closed out the “Hottest Summer in Half of a Century.”

WINNIPEG — Saturday is turnaround day for the 2017 Canada Summer Games, as 2,000 athletes bid farewell to Winnipeg after the first week of competition.

The Athletes’ Village and field of play are all undergoing changes by the host society, along with thousands of travellers leaving and arriving at James Richardson International Airport.
