WINNIPEG — Santa Claus will step out of his workshop on Saturday, December 3 to pay a visit to the Assiniboine Park Conservatory.

The jolly man in red, along with Mrs. Claus, will snap photos with visitors from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

WINNIPEG — The latest exhibit to pay homage to Winnie the Bear is now open at Assiniboine Park.

“Remembering the Real Winnie” is the latest addition in the Pavilion galleries. The exhibit celebrates the story of Canadian soldier and veterinarian Lt. Harry Colebourn, who adopted Winnie from a trapper for $20.

The exhibit, housed in the Pooh Gallery, also explores the themes of veterinary practice during World War I, military life at camp, as well as the popular legacy of Winnie-the-Pooh.

WINNIPEG — The renovated Pavilion at Assiniboine Park has reopened after undergoing upgrades that began in February.

The Assiniboine Park Conservancy has partnered with the Winnipeg Art Gallery to mark the launch of WAG@ThePark, which will provide the park with expertise to curate exhibitions drawn primarily from the APC collection, as well as from the WAG collection.

Winnipeg children aged 3-5 got their little hands a bit dirty on Wednesday for National Tree Day.

The pre-schoolers and their parents participated in a tree-planting event at Assiniboine Park as part of the park’s Nature Tots program.

National Tree Day is celebrated across the country to educate Canadians about the important benefits trees provide such as clean air, wildlife habitat and connecting with nature.

WINNIPEG — Assiniboine Park has joined the list of Canadian venues airing the live screening of The Tragically Hip’s final concert on August 20.

The park will screen the CBC’s broadcast of “The Tragically Hip: A National Celebration” on a 27-foor-wide LED screen on the Lyric Stage.

The Royal Winnipeg Ballet is treating its audiences to Christmas in July during this season’s Ballet in the Park.

The Nutcracker, a tradition for the RWB, will be sampled during performances July 27-29 at Assiniboine Park.

The free family-friendly event attracts more than 20,000 people annually to the Lyric Theatre stage.

Terry Fox Fitness Trail Reopens at Assiniboine Park

A trail at Assiniboine Park has reopened after an extensive renovation.

A ribbon was cut Friday on the Terry Fox Fitness Trail located in the southeast area of Assiniboine Park. Work on the 1 km trail included landscaping repair and rehabilitation work, and now boasts 12 pieces of modern outdoor fitness equipment with instructional signage.

The trail runs through the area that will eventually include the outdoor portions of Canada’s Diversity Gardens, part of the park’s $200 million redevelopment campaign.
