WINNIPEG – Their coach said the Columbus Blue Jackets kept it simple, checked well and were rewarded with their fourth straight win of the young NHL season.

WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Jets and Carolina Hurricanes both made moves in the off-season in search of a No. 1 goaltender. The Hurricanes found theirs, while the Jets answer was seemingly right there all along.

Nikolaj Ehlers’s team-leading fifth goal of the season was the winner and Connor Hellebuyck stopped 28 shots to win his third straight game as the Winnipeg Jets earned a 2-1 win over Carolina on Saturday at Bell MTS Place.

WINNIPEG – Patrick Marleau’s birth certificate may say he’s 38 years old, but Toronto’s veteran free agent was feeling young and energized on Wednesday.

Marleau scored twice and added an assist in his Maple Leafs debut as Toronto cruised to a 7-2 rout of the Winnipeg Jets in the season opener for both teams.

Fans attending Wednesday’s Winnipeg Jets home opener at Bell MTS Place will notice a difference in how their cell phones work within the building.

Bell MTS made upgrades to its LTE network in the arena over the summer, more than tripling the capacity for wireless customers. A common frustration of those who attend events in the building is slower speeds or periods of non-connectivity given the volume of other users in the vicinity. Similar headaches have been shared by football fans at Investors Group Field in the past.

WINNIPEG – Paul Maurice is getting a clearer picture of the Winnipeg Jets roster after they pumped out a 5-3 come-from-behind victory over the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday.

Dustin Byfuglien, Bryan Little and Nic Petan scored on the power play, while Marko Dano broke the 3-3 tie and Little added a second goal into an empty net. Byfuglien and Nikolaj Ehlers each added a pair of helpers.
