WINNIPEG — Improvements to the city’s Northeast Exchange District have been completed in time for the busy summer tourist season.

Mayor Brian Bowman on Thursday touted upgrades made to Elgin Avenue, Market Avenue, Pacific Avenue, Bertha Street, Rorie Street, Lily Street and John Hirsch Place.

Former President Carter Returning to Winnipeg with Habitat for Humanity Build

Habitat for HumanityFormer U.S. President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, will make a return to Winnipeg later this month to lend their hands in the latest Habitat for Humanity build.

The 34th Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project is aiming to build 150 homes to mark Canada’s 150th anniversary. The Carters will be in the country July 9-14, focusing their work efforts in Winnipeg and Edmonton.

If you need to get to and from downtown Winnipeg using Pembina Highway this long weekend, you’ll have to find a different route.

Starting at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 19, northbound and southbound Pembina between Jubilee Avenue and Stafford Street will be closed for construction of stage two of the southwest rapid transitway and Pembina Highway widening.
