The short, stocky, bald-headed character known as George Costanza on the popular 90s sitcom “Seinfeld” is coming to Winnipeg.

Actor Jason Alexander will headline this year’s Negev Gala honouring the Arab Jewish Dialogue at the Centennial Concert Hall. The gala event is Tuesday, June 4 and is being put on by the Jewish National Fund of Canada Manitoba/Saskatchewan Region (JNF).

“We are thrilled to feature the triple-threat talents of Jason Alexander at this year’s Negev Gala,” said regional president Karla Berbrayer. “We hope by bringing in such a popular entertainer, more people will be aware of and interested in the amazing work the JNF is doing in Israel.”

The annual fundraiser supports environmental research and development projects that benefit all citizens and visitors in the State of Israel.

Alexander is the spokesman and representative for One Voice, a grassroots organization of Israelis and Palestinians committed to a peaceful, two-state solution in the Middle East.

December 23 marks the day when grievances are aired, Feats of Strength are tested, and a shiny aluminum pole sits upward in the living room to bring everyone together.

Of course, we’re talking about the fictional holiday of Festivus, made popular on the longtime running sitcom, “Seinfeld.” While it may be a made up holiday, thousands celebrate it each year to carry on Frank Costanza’s family tradition.

There’s nothing like quite gathering the family around a cold piece of pipe to tell them all the ways they have disappointed you this year.

Twitter users seem to be taking full advantage of Festivus, sharing their own ways to mark the faux holiday.

How a few Winnipeggers are celebrating…

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld will be bringing his standup comedy routine to Winnipeg this fall.

Seinfeld will play MTS Centre on Thursday, September 8.

Tickets for the show go on sale Saturday, June 4 at Ticketmaster for $79.50 and $99.50.

This isn’t the first time Seinfeld has played Winnipeg. The New Yorker performed at Rumor’s Comedy Club in the ’90s.

The presale begins Wednesday at 10 a.m. and will end Friday at 10 p.m. Use COMEDY as the password at Ticketmaster.

Happy Festivus — Time to Air Those Grievances

Happy Festivus — Time to Air Those Grievances

Carrying on Frank Costanza‘s prized tradition, December 23rd would not be complete if we didn’t all celebrate Festivus.

Gather your best looking aluminum pole, place it firmly in your living room standing upright and tell your family members all the ways they have disappointed you this year.

After dinner, get ready for the Feats of Strength, and prepare to battle the head of household.

In many parts of the world, the faux holiday from “Seinfeld” is celebrated in varying levels of seriousness.

It’s a Festivus for the rest of us!

Now if only there’d be a Festivus Miracle.

The cast from “Seinfeld” will reunite, but not for another episode of their show as many would like. The cast will appear in several episodes of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” beginning in the fall.

Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander and Michael Richards will be joined together again when they star in “Seinfeld” co-creator Larry David’s hit HBO comedy.

No other details were available and HBO was keeping everything hush-hush.

Besides the “Seinfeld” DVD box sets in living rooms everywhere, this may be the next best place to see the four all together again.

“Curb Your Enthusiasm” airs on HBO Canada and Showcase for Winnipeg viewers.

Jerry SeinfeldWhat’s the deal with Jerry Seinfeld coming back to NBC?

The comedian will play role the of producer this time behind the camera in a reality series about marriage.

The series, called “The Married Ref.”, will showcase a real-life couple involved in a marital spat. A team of celebrities will provide commentary and a celebrity referee, who has yet to be determined, will give the final verdict on who is right and wrong.

It sounds like The People’s Court meets comedy.

There’s no word on whether Seinfeld will make the occasional appearance on air. There’s also no time frame for when the show starts, but producers are shooting for next season.
