Chief Medical Examiner Looking into Lisa Gibson Case

The province’s Chief Medical Examiner will be looking more closely into the deaths of Lisa Gibson and her two young children.

“The deaths of Lisa Gibson and her two children of Winnipeg, Manitoba, were reported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on July 24, 2013 and July 27, 2013,” reads a statement from the province. “In accordance with The Fatality Inquiries Act, a thorough investigation is being conducted regarding the circumstances under which the deaths occurred.

“Once the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has gathered and assessed all relevant information, a decision will be made regarding the course of action that needs to be taken to prevent similar future deaths. As this process will take a few months, it is expected this decision will be made in late fall.”

Winnipeg Police, Social Services Offering Counseling in Wake of Westwood Tragedy

Winnipeg police and a number of local social services are offering counseling after a Westwood mother and her two children died last week.

Lisa Gibson and her two children, Anna, 2, and Nicholas, 3 months, are dead after the two children were found unresponsive in a bathtub in the family’s home. Gibson was pulled from the Red River a few days later.

“While we cannot change what occurred, we can try to provide some comfort to one another with the hope that time will heal some of our wounds,” reads a statement from the Winnipeg Police Service and the city’s community services department.

Body of Lisa Gibson Pulled from Red River

Winnipeg police have confirmed the body pulled from the Red River on Saturday morning is that of Lisa Gibson.

The 32-year-old mother went missing Wednesday after her two children were found deceased in the family’s bathtub of their Westwood area home.

Gibson’s body was located south of the Alexander Docks shortly after 9:30 a.m.

Police Seek Mother After Two Children Drown

Winnipeg police are searching for a 32-year-old woman after her two children drowned in a bathtub on Wednesday morning.

Lisa Gibson is wanted for questioning by police in the incident, which began as a well-being call at 3 Coleridge Park Drive in Westwood.

Several police cruisers were on scene Wednesday at around 8 a.m., as well as two ambulances.

The children, three-month-old Nicolas and two-year-old Anna were rushed to hospital where they were declared deceased.

Police and fire crews began a search of the nearby Assiniboine River, where they believed Gibson may have gone.
