Canadian rock band Monster Truck is embarking on an extensive Canadian tour this winter, including a stop in Winnipeg.

The Juno Award winners for breakthrough group of the year in 2013 will play the Pyramid Cabaret on Wednesday, December 11 with guests.

Tickets for the 18+ show go on sale Friday, September 13 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster for $25.

Nova Scotia rocker Matt Mays is bringing the sounds of his brand new album to Winnipeg next month.

Mays will perform at the Pyramid Cabaret on Sunday, October 14 with guests The Meds.

Tikets go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster and LiveNation.com for $25.

Mays’ new record Coyote was released on Tuesday and includes the closing track “Chase The Light.”

Nova Scotia indie rockers Wintersleep will play the Pyramid Cabaret on Friday, June 8.

Celebrating the June 12 release of their new album, Hello Hum, the band will be playing several intimate shows in select markets.

Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. on LiveNation.com for $25.

Showtime for the 19+ show is 10:30 p.m. Doors open at 9 p.m.

Dãm-Funk Bringing Jazz to the Pyramid Tonight

Los Angeles-based Dãm-Funk will bring their authentic jazz sound to the Pyramid Cabaret tonight.

Known as the “Ambassador of Boogie Funk,” the band spent the last few years cultivating a musical renaissance rooted in the early ’80s styles known as boogie, modern soul and electro-funk.

The group recently launched a free EP called Innafocuseddaze (MP3, 35.4 MB) accompanied by the video for the song Forever (above).

Tickets for tonight’s concert are $15 in advance, or at the door, 176 Fort Street.

Showtime is 10 p.m.

Canadian rockers Sloan performed an intimate show Saturday at the Pyramid Cabaret.

Chris Murphy, Patrick Pentland, Jay Ferguson and Andrew Scott sang hits from their first ten albums, celebrating 20 years of music.

The Nova Scotia group took the stage later than expected, but fans who waited weren’t disappointed.

Sloan released its latest album, The Double Cross, earlier this year.

Montreal indie-rock band Plants and Animals will perform this Saturday, February 26 at the Pyramid Cabaret with special guests Yukon Blade.

The band released their second album titled La La Land last April.

Winnipeg burlesque performer Miss La Muse will open for Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Saturday, October 23.

The rock indie band will play at the Pyramid Cabaret as part of their Canadian Angry Inch 2010 Tour.

The production takes the audience through a tragic story of love, emotional and physical sacrifice, and betrayal. Hedwig and the Angry Inch features an exciting rock ‘n’ roll score by composer Stephen Trask with an outrageous and unexpectedly hilarious story by John Cameron Mitchell.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch opened its official Off-Broadway run on February 14, 1998 at the Jane Street Theatre in the old Hotel Riverview. The show has been embraced by critics and audiences alike, quickly becoming a cult classic.

Showtime is 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 at the door.

Don Amero Releasing New Album with Two Winnipeg Shows

Winnipeg singer-songwriter Don Amero is set to launch his new album with two local shows next month.

The indie musician has been compared to the likes of John Mayer and Jack Johnson for his unique sound and will share his music with an audience on Saturday, November 6 and Sunday, November 7.

In support of Don’s third album, The Long Way Home, he’ll host a CD release party at the Pyramid Cabaret on November 6 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. with guests Sonia Eidse and Cris Derksen. The show is presented by Aboriginal Music Manitoba and tickets are $10 at the door.

On Sunday, November 7, Don will play an all ages acoustic show featuring stories and songs from his new album. Sonia Eidse will be the special guest again, accompanied by Brad Woods. The show runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Good News Fellowship Church, 891 St. Mary’s Road. Tickets are $10 at the door.
