A 66-year-old Selkirk man is lucky to be alive after falling approximately 35 feet down an embankment into the Red River on Friday.

The man was operating a riding lawn mower at the time when it fell off the edge of his property and into the water.

SELKIRK, Man. – Four teenage boys have been charged with arson in a fire that destroyed a popular Manitoba paddlewheeler that plied the Red River for decades.

The Paddlewheel Princess was used for riverboat tours, but the owner sold it last year when he retired.

RCMP say the break-in on North Dominique Drive happened at around 11:35 p.m. when the intruder forced his way through the back door. The homeowner was hit and had demands made against him, but the attacker left empty-handed a few minutes later.

Three people are dead after a shooting Monday night in East Selkirk, Manitoba.

Family confirms Nicole Rach-Gregoire and her husband James Gregoire are two of the deceased.

The three were found deceased outside a residence at 15 Cooks Cove in East Selkirk at around 7 p.m.
