As the party gets started on Canada’s 150th birthday this weekend, there are several street closures you should note to make sure your festivities on Saturday run as smoothly as possible.

If you need to get to and from downtown Winnipeg using Pembina Highway this long weekend, you’ll have to find a different route.

Starting at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 19, northbound and southbound Pembina between Jubilee Avenue and Stafford Street will be closed for construction of stage two of the southwest rapid transitway and Pembina Highway widening.

Winnipeg Considering Live-Streaming Traffic Cameras

The City of Winnipeg is looking into how it can make its new traffic cameras available for online public viewing.

Since the city’s Traffic Management Centre opened in January, staff oversee all aspects of traffic flow within the city, including 70 live traffic cameras. Views from incidents are often shared on the city’s Twitter account moments after they happen in an effort to alert motorists to potential problem areas.
