Pair Charged in 26 Downtown Winnipeg Retail Break-Ins

Winnipeg Police CrestTwo people are in police custody following a break-and-enter spree that targeted more than two dozen downtown Winnipeg businesses.

Police say the duo broke into various small businesses, such as corner grocery stores and clothing storefronts, where they made off with cash registers and contents, cigarettes, lottery tickets and clothing over the last two months.

Winnipeg Police CrestA 21-year-old man was taken to hospital in critical condition Sunday morning when a fight broke out at an apartment party.

Winnipeg police were called to the 1100 block of Munroe Avenue at around 12:40 a.m. where a man was found suffering from stab wounds. He has since been upgraded to stable condition.

Police Watchdog Probes Arrest After Man’s Eye Socket Fractured

Winnipeg Police CrestThe Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba is probing the arrest of a man after his eye socket was fractured.

Winnipeg police pulled over a Ford F-150 near Chancellor Drive and Pembina Highway at around 11 p.m. Tuesday. The suspect’s vehicle was blocked in by the police cruiser, which was then hit when the truck accelerated to try and flee. The truck eventually drove into an open field and became stuck in heavy snow. During the arrest, a struggle ensued and the suspect was injured.

Bowman Urges Winnipeggers to Come Forward After Act of Anti-Semitism

Mayor Brian Bowman is asking citizens to assist police in their investigation of an act of anti-Semitism on New Year’s Eve.

A couple returned home December 31 to find a large rock painted with an anti-Semitic message near their front steps.

“I am profoundly disturbed and disgusted by this reprehensible display of hate,” Bowman said.

UPDATE: The man has since died.

WINNIPEG — One man was sent to hospital in critical condition Thursday after falling at least four storeys inside the Millennium Library downtown.

Police and fire paramedics responded to the 200 block of Donald Street at around 1:30 p.m.

WINNIPEG – Winnipeg police are investigating after a couple say they came home New Year’s Eve to find a large rock painted with an anti-Semitic message near their front steps.

B’nai Brith says the homeowners in a residential neighbourhood west of the city’s downtown found the rock in a red gift bag wrapped in a red ribbon.
