Former NHL Agent Charged After Allegedly Defrauding Players of $12M

An ex-NHL agent has been charged by Winnipeg police after alleging defrauding former Ottawa Senators Chris Phillips and Dany Heatley out of $12 million.

Police say Stacey McAlpine, 54, used funds provided by the victims to invest on their behalf. Instead, police say McAlpine used the cash for personal business and provided both players with fraudulent account statements for their bogus investments.

Winnipeg Police Chopper Tracks Down Stolen Vehicle

Winnipeg police utilized their Air 1 helicopter on Saturday to locate a stolen vehicle that evaded officers on the ground.

Police spotted the vehicle at around 10 p.m. in the area of Henderson Highway and Harbison Avenue West.

Police Catch Man Concealing Gun in North End

Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg police officers spotted a man concealing a firearm while on duty in the North End on Saturday.

Members of the Tactical Support Team were in the area of Salter Street and Mountain Avenue at around 8:40 a.m. when they confronted the man. Police say he tried to throw the weapon over a nearby fence, but was apprehended.
