After a slow 2008 movie season in the city, Winnipeg will be the location for another Hollywood flick.
Beginning in April, “Sweetwater” will start shooting here. The movie, which is set in the 1950s, follows the life of the first black basketball player to join the NBA. Several stars have already been confirmed for the film, including Bruce McGill, Mira Sorvino, Kevin Pollak, Smokey Robinson and James Caan (that guy is so bad ass!)
The casting company in charge of finding talent is looking for 65 Winnipeg-area basketball players between the ages of 18 and 34. You must be more tall and lean than muscular and preferably familiar with holding a basketball.
