CHUM Radio Slashing 40 Jobs, Including in Winnipeg

February 26, 2009 4:07 PM | News

CHUM RadioCHUM Radio, a division of CTV Ltd. is cutting 40 jobs across Canada as a result of weaker revenues caused by the recession.

Winnipeg currently has three CHUM stations, CURVE 94.3, 99.9 BOB FM and CFRW 1290 AM. It’s not immediately clear how many jobs will be lost in the city, but the layoffs are effective immediately and impact stations in Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton, London, Toronto, Peterborough-Lindsay, Ottawa and Montreal as well.

CHUM’s house cleaning comes a week after CTV announced it was selling CKX-TV in Brandon and wouldn’t renew licences for two A-Channel TV stations in southwestern Ontario.

Didn’t CURVE just hire the “new guy” aka Jay Richardson? Hopefully he still has a job.

Thanks to Sean for the information.
